Seaboard block with computers that have usb-2

The instruction manual says the seaboard must be connected to the computer using a usb-3 port, does this mean computers with usb-2 ports wont work with the seaboard block at all?

Best Answer

Hi Martin,

USB 2 carries less current than USB 3, and so while you should be able to use BLOCKS (including the Seaboard Block) with USB 2 ports, USB 2 ports may not be able to charge some BLOCKS configurations while the BLOCKS are turned on and in use. A single Seaboard Block should be fine, while the Lightpad Block requires more current and so likely won't be able to be charged while in use.

I hope this helps clarify things.
