Note: This guide will walk you through the process of setting up your ROLI Airwave and Seaboard M with Ableton 12

Setting up your ROLI Airwave and Seaboard M with Ableton Live 12 is quick and straightforward, and since Live 12 is built for MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), you can take full advantage of the expressive capabilities of this setup and software instruments like ROLI Airwave Player. Here's how to get started:

1. Connect your ROLI Airwave to your computer using the USB-C cable supplied.

2. Connect your Seaboard M to your computer using a USB cable or via Bluetooth (Mac only).

3. Open Ableton Live and go to Settings > Link, Tempo, MIDI

4. In the Input Ports section, make sure that 'Track', 'Remote' and 'MPE' are ticked as shown below:

*The Seaboard M may appear as “Seaboard BLOCK M” in Ableton’s MIDI settings.

5. Create a new MIDI track in Ableton Live and insert an instance of ROLI Airwave Player. Enable MPE Mode on the ROLI Airwave Player device by right-clicking the device’s top bar.

6. Inside the ROLI Airwave Player VST window, head over the cogwheel and click the “Recalibrate” button.

7. ROLI Airwave Player will prompt you to select a device to calibrate. Since we’re using the Seaboard M in this example, please select the Seaboard M option.

8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the calibration process.

9. You're all set and the calibration process has been completed.

10. Arm the MIDI track for recording and start playing your Seaboard M with ROLI Airwave. You should hear the sound of your selected instrument and have full expression.

Note: Since ROLI Airwave Expression sends continuous MIDI data in real-time, you’ll need to unarm the MIDI track after recording. Otherwise, live Air Expression data will override the recorded data. Alternatively, you can disable Air Dimensions from ROLI Airwave Control app to prevent the live data from affecting the recorded data.

With these simple steps, you can set up your ROLI Airwave and Seaboard M with Ableton Live 12 and start creating expressive and dynamic music. If you encounter any issues, be sure to contact the Support Team for further assistance. Happy music-making!
