If you’re experiencing issues running Cypher2 or Strobe2 on a Mac, the problem may be related to how the plugins are running on Apple Silicon systems.

Apple Silicon Macs

  • Cypher2 and Strobe2 are available as Universal Binaries, so they can run natively on Apple Silicon.

  • However, there is a known bug affecting one of the oscillators in the native Apple Silicon versions.

  • To avoid this, we recommend running the Intel versions under Rosetta. This ensures the plugins sound and perform correctly.

How to run your DAW in Rosetta:

  1. Quit your DAW if it’s open.

  2. Open your Applications folder.

  3. Right-click your DAW’s application icon and select Get Info.

  4. Tick the box that says Open using Rosetta.

  5. Restart your DAW — it will now run the Intel version of Cypher2 / Strobe2.

Intel Macs

  • If you’re on an Intel-based Mac, the plugins should run as normal. No additional setup is required.

Format-specific notes

  • AAX: Intel only — always requires Rosetta.

  • AU: Universal Binary — can run natively, but we recommend using Rosetta until the oscillator bug is resolved.
