In instances where BLOCKS are exhibiting unexpected behavior, experiencing connection issues, or are otherwise unresponsive:
- First ensure your BLOCKS are fully charged and are running the latest firmware.
- If your BLOCKS are connected via DNA, make sure that the DNA connectors themselves are clean and that the BLOCKS are on a flat surface. This will help them make a good connection with each other.
- If the problem persists, you may reset your BLOCKS according to the following instructions.
Resetting Lightpad and Seaboard BLOCKS
Hardware reset
- Make sure the BLOCK is fully charged and disconnected from any devices
- With the BLOCK turned on, first press and hold the Mode button (on the left side), and while holding the Mode button, press the Power button (on the front center) briefly.
Software reset
- Open ROLI Dashboard and connect your BLOCK via Bluetooth (Mac only) or USB
- With your BLOCK selected in ROLI Dashboard, navigate to the 'Device' menu in the menu bar
- Click on 'Reset to default settings'
Resetting Control BLOCKS
Hardware reset
- With the BLOCK turned on and disconnected from other BLOCKS, first press and hold the button in the upper right corner for 3 seconds and then release it.
- Next, press and hold the upper left button (the Mode button of a Live or Loop BLOCK or Strike ["V"] button on a Touch BLOCK), for 3 seconds. The BLOCK will power off.
- Finally, press and hold the two buttons closest to the BLOCK's left side for 3 seconds to turn the BLOCK on again.
Software reset
- Open ROLI Dashboard and connect your BLOCK via Bluetooth (Mac only) or USB
- With your BLOCK selected in ROLI Dashboard, navigate to the 'Device' menu in the menu bar
- Click on 'Reset to default settings'
Resetting BLOCKS' firmware
If you continue to experience unexpected behavior, we recommend resetting the firmware on BLOCKS. This ensures that the latest version of firmware is correctly installed.
Download the attached files
For macOS Catalina or Big Sur users, you must download the file to this folder: Users/Shared due to permission changes in this OS update.
Open ROLI Dashboard and connect one BLOCK at a time via Bluetooth (Mac only) or USB
Drag and drop the .syx file of the appropriate BLOCK onto the Block displayed in BLOCKS Dashboard's visualizer
For Control Blocks (Live, Loop, Touch) drag and drop BLOCKS control x.x.x.syx
For Lightpad Blocks drag and drop BLOCKS lightpad x.x.x.syx
For Seaboard Blocks drag and drop BLOCKS seaboard x.x.x.syx
- Wait for the firmware update to complete
- Repeat for any additional BLOCKS
